Once something only cast-out witches were known for using, the art of Tarot card reading is on the increase now more than ever. With a range of different cards available, people are turning to tarot cards for advice and guidance in their everyday lives. Beginning in the mid 15th century in several parts of Europe, the tarot was once known as trionfi and then as tarocchi. The first deck ever recorded was in Milan between 1440 and 1450.
If you are interested in taking your newfound, or existing spirituality further, why not take a chance on the tarot cards? To begin with, you certainly have to do a little research on how to read the cards and what each means, then it’s time to find your deck. Each person is drawn to their own and once that decision is made, you are ready to go. When experts in tarot were asked about which pack is best for beginners, there was one resounding answer. The Ride-Waite-Smith desk (which is great for newbies due to its simplicity). Calley Nelson from Extraordinary Tarot said, “If you can read the Rider-Waite-Smith deck, you can read any deck.”
Due to the simplicity of the images, this deck is pretty self-explanatory but again, it’s important to go with your heart and follow your intuition when choosing your deck. Queen of Wands Tarot’s Jenna Matlin says, “The funny thing about using tarot for readings is that some decks will really look beautiful but in use, they don’t read very well. The intuitive eye requires different things than the artistic eye so you may be surprised to work well with a deck that you would otherwise dislike from an aesthetic point of view.” Continuing Jenna explained, “While very simplistic decks are in fashion right now, I recommend a deck where there is a scene going on. Your intuition will pick out symbols in the card that have a distinct meaning for the question or situation at hand.”
Everyone that has a close relationship and uses Tarot speaks of the importance of buying your deck of cards in person. Have a look online for your nearest Holistic bookstore or New Age shop and you should find several different options of Tarot Cards available for you to choose from.
