Spice Up Your Wardrobe With These Winter Basics

Now that winter is definitely here, and most of us are experiencing either rain or snow, and if you’re really lucky both, it’s time to spice up your winter wardrobe. Most of us have the basics like a good coat, warm sweaters, and jeans but there are a couple of ‘new’ basics that every woman needs.

A Statement Coat

Your puffer jacket is a good all around piece, but when you want to get ready for a night out on the town or a work event you need a statement coat. The instyle looks for this season are long shackets in plaid patterns, camel colored double-breasted dress coats, and the class black peacoat.

Winter Boots

Finding the right pair of winter boots can be difficult, there are a lot of different styles and brands to choose from. But if there is one brand that has made a major resurgence this year, it is the Australian brand Ugg. This brand first started producing sheepskin winter boots in the early 2000s, and they have continued to be popular ever since. Grab a pair of their neutral colored brown ones, and head off for a walk in the snow.

Cashmere Sweaters

Have you ever tried on a cashmere sweater? There is no material on earth that is quite as soft as cashmere wool. Sweaters made with this expensive wool, are on the pricey side but you need to think of them as an investment piece. If you buy a cashmere cardigan or pullover in black, white, grey, or camel you will be able to wear it for many years to come. Not only will you look incredibly chic, but you will be nice and warm too.

The Straight Leg Jean

Skinny jeans used to be all the rage, but now fashion is trending towards a more relaxed fit. We first saw this fit with the boyfriend jean, and then a slightly more fitted look with the 80s style mom jean. Now, the straight leg jean which sits comfortably around the waist, hugs the hips, and then goes straight down to the ankle is the go to jean for the winter season. This is a very comfortable fit, and you can cuff the ankle to show off some cute booties, which leads to the next must have item!

Booties

No look is complete without a pair of adorable booties. This boot style sits right above your ankle, and usually features a small heel or a high one if you want to be really tall. You can’t go wrong with a black or brown leather bootie, that features a gold or silver clasp or buckle on the side. White leather booties have also been making a comeback, which is a nod to the Go Go dancer style of the 1960s.
Don’t forget to accessorize your outfit with a colorful scarf and a pair of handmade mittens.
