Make Your Own Harry Potter Inspired Butterbeer This Halloween

With Halloween coming up fast you may want to try out these witchy, Harry Potter inspired butterbeer recipes to get you into the spooky spirit of the holiday. This alcohol-free, Hogsmeade special comes in hot and cold versions and is great as a treat for cold nights snuggled up watching tv, for a Halloween get-together or as a special treat for the little ones. Check out these hot and cold butterbeer recipes that will have you wishing you had received your letter to Hogwarts!

Cold butterbeer
Ingredients
• ½ quart plain vanilla ice-cream
• 3 tablespoons butterscotch sauce or ice-cream topping
• 12 ounces cream soda (if you are in a pinch you can also use root beer, but it will come out darker than expected)
• ¼ cup ice
• Whipped cream

Recipe
1. Place the ice, the ice cream, and the butterscotch topping in a blender and mix until combined.
2. Slowly add the cream soda and stir in until mixed.
3. Slowly pour the mixture into iced glasses.
4. For the topping, cover with whipped cream and drizzle some more butterscotch sauce over the top as desired.

Tip: If you cannot get any butterscotch topping sauce, you can also try using butterscotch ice-cream instead.

Warm butterbeer
Ingredients
• 2 cups whole milk
• ¼ cup butter
• ¼ brown sugar
• 3 tablespoons butterscotch sauce or ice-cream topping
• 1 cup Cream soda
• Whipped cream

Recipe
1. In a small pot on the stove, add the milk, butter, and sugar.
2. On low heat slowly heat up the mixture while stirring. Once the mixture starts to boil you can remove the pot from the heat.
3. While the mixture is still hot stir in the butterscotch topping sauce, making sure to mix all the ingredients well. Stir until all the ingredients are fully dissolved.
4. Next, add the cream soda to the mixture making sure to combine well.
5. Transfer the mixture into mugs, making sure not to fill them to the top
6. For the topping, cover with a generous amount of whipped cream and drizzle some more butterscotch topping sauce on top as desired.

Whether you prefer it hot or cold this is a real Halloween treat and makes an excellent drink choice for any Harry Potter themed party. For an alcoholic version, you can simply add your favorite spirit (Irish cream and liqueurs work best) to the mix before pouring into the mugs or glasses and topping with cream
