Recently, top CEOs have been saying one of the keys to their success is waking up at around 5 am which has worked to increase their overall productivity. We decided to put this to the test and check out what the top five benefits of rising early are.
Productivity
Waking up early sets the tone for the day. If you wake up at around 5 am or 6 am you will find that as your day gets started earlier, you actually have the time to start and finish all of the tasks you have set for yourself, and by the end of the day you are exhausted and ready to sleep.
Better Sleep
Since you have been incredibly active throughout the day, you should be tired enough to go to bed at a reasonable hour such as 10 pm. Going to sleep earlier allows you to get around seven to nine hours which is what is recommended for adults. And, if you are very tired you will find that your sleep is less restless allowing you to stay in REM for a longer duration. However, if you are a chronic phone user before bed this could actually work to keep you awake so be mindful of this.
Mental Health
If you are getting the required amount of sleep for a healthy body and for brain functions to be performed at optimal levels, your overall mental health should also improve. Completing all of your tasks and having an uninterrupted sleep all contribute to a healthier outlook.
Time for Rest and Relaxation
When you arrive home after a long day and you have completed everything you have set for yourself you may find you actually have time to just de-stress from the day. You do not need to worry about a report you did not finish because you have finished it. Scheduling your time, and your sleep means that you have allotted time to everything that needs to be done. Thus, before you go to bed you should take some time to just read a good book or do a face mask. Treat yourself!.
Organization
Last, but not least you will be better organized. If you wake up early you have time to organize your day and make sure everything is scheduled. You can also use these early morning hours to complete personal tasks such as exercising, watching television, and responding to personal emails. If you have a family, then this is also a good time to simply have some alone time away from everyone and focus on yourself. So, set that alarm and try waking up early for a week. Once you get in the rhythm you may just find yourself happier, fitter, and better rested!
