This recipe is great as it can either be made with store-bought distilled rose water which is clear or stepped rosewater which can be made at home.
Rosewater Facial Toner:
1/4 cup witch hazel toner
1/4 cup rosewater (homemade or store-bought)
5 drops rose essential oil
Homemade Steeped Rosewater:
2 cups washed, organic rose petals
3 cups of filtered water or distilled water
Instructions for homemade distilled rosewater
In a large saucepan heat up the 3 cups of water on high to medium heat
Once the water begins to boil you can add the rose petals and reduce the heat to low. Petals should be fresh and can come from any type of rose. While the petals may float above the water at first they will begin to sink the more they boil
Let the rose petals cook on low heat for 35 minutes and then remove from heat. Leave the petal in the water off the heat for a further 10 minutes.
After the petals have steeped in the water strain the water using a fine sieve, coffee filter or cheesecloth. Be sure to separate the petals from the water. Once the water has filters you can discard the petals.
Making the facial toner
Combine the ¼ cup witch hazel toner with ¼ cup of rose water- either store-bought or homemade.
Add the rose essential oil and then carefully pour it into a spray bottle or bottle of another kind.
Once your toner has been made you can either apply it with a cotton pad and then onto your face or spray it directly on your face after washing.
