How To Beat The February Blues

We know how you feel, those mid-winter blues can get you down, but fear not we have a lovely list of things you can do to boost your mood and make you feel better.

Good Mood Food

Fruit and veggies are packed with omega-3 fatty acids which are proven to help depression and the folate and B vitamins they contain, positively affect the neurotransmitters that impact mood. Make yourself a comfort meal, what about a fish pie? Omega-3 fatty acids encourage the production of serotonin and dopamine and these relieve the effects of depression and make us feel good.

Play That Funky Music

Ditch the depressing songs and wallowing tunes, put some fun music on that can really boost your mood. If you aren’t feeling cheerful enough to dance yourself into happiness, just put some happy music on that you can listen to at your desk. If you are feeling upset or anxious, meditation music is very helpful.

Don’t Be A Couch Potato

We know you don’t feel like it, but get some exercise. We promise it will help. Even a simple walk can boost your mood for hours. You don’t have to leave the house, have a ten-minute dance party to your favorite happy tune.

Fake It ‘Til You Make It!

Even if you don’t feel like you can, try smile. It will help you to relax and melt away the sadness. Also try watching something funny that will make you laugh, or surround yourself with positive people who have a calming energy and make you feel safe.

Remember, this feeling doesn’t last forever, and tomorrow is Hump Day!
