The Most Luscious Chocolate Cake

Finding the right chocolate cake recipe is not as easy as one might think. So, after a whole lot of testing (or should we say, eating), we have found the tastiest recipe to date and it could possibly be the best chocolate cake ever. As you look at the recipe you will notice that it has some elements you might not have seen before, like the boiling cup of water which makes your cake batter kind of “soupy”, but this is what makes the cake melt in your mouth and not be too dry. But don’t take our word for it, give it a try for yourself.

Ingredients:

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups sugar
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon espresso powder
1 cup milk buttermilk, almond, or coconut milk
1/2 cup vegetable canola oil, or melted coconut oil
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup boiling water

Method:

You should preheat your oven to 350º F and choose your baking pan of choice. You might want to use two traditional cake pans or a bundt cake pan if you want a less traditional shape. The choice is yours! Just make sure to search different baking times if you choose a bundt cake pan as it is much deeper, and will require some added baking time.

Next up, add all of your dry ingredients together in your mixing bowl, if you have a standalone mixer you can use that bowl as you will be combining all the ingredients together and not mixing the dry and wet ones separately. Less to clean!

Once your dry ingredients have been mixed together for about 2 minutes, it is time to add the wet ingredients, but DO NOT add the boiling water until you have mixed the wet and dry ingredients together well. Once they have all been mixed, add the cup of boiling water and mix it all together. Once you have what looks like nice chocolate soup, the batter is ready to be poured into the baking tin you have selected. Don’t forget to butter and flour these so your cake does not stick to it!

The cake itself will need to cook for about 30 to 35 minutes depending on the pan, to check if it is finished stick a toothpick into the center and if it comes out clean it is finished. Wait for your cake to cool before you try and remove it from the pan, at least 10 minutes or longer. Now, all you need to do is wait for it to be completely cooled and cover it in yummy buttercream frosting and voila it’s done!
