Choosing what to wear for a first date can be a nerve-wracking experience. If it is a blind date it can be even more so as you don’t know that much about the other person or even where you are going on the date. The key to making sure you have the right outfit is to ask your date if there is an activity planned, or what restaurant you are meeting at so that you can coordinate your outfit accordingly. Nobody wants to show up at a bowling alley in high heels and a cocktail dress or shorts and a T-shirt to a nice bar.
Always ask about where you are going. You need to know if you should be in athleisure wear, a cute summer dress, or even something more formal. Nothing is more embarrassing than showing up to a place over or underdressed. If your dates say it is going to be a surprise then simply ask them what you should wear because you want to be comfortable as it is already an uncomfortable situation like a first date.
Curating The Outfit
You want to give off a certain air of confidence and one of the ways to do this is through your dress. First appearances can really affect how someone sees you, and you only get to make this once so dress to impress! If you are going to a relaxed bar then consider wearing cute jeans and a nice top with some assorted jewelry, if you are going out for a meal at a nice restaurant then you may want to gear it up a bit and wear a dress and some more make-up than you normally would. But the key is to really be yourself and wear what makes you feel comfortable. As soon as you start hiding who you are and what you like then the person you are on a date with will not know the real you. It can be hard to pretend to love Nascar and then have to attend all sorts of events and viewing parties when it actually bores you to death.
Ask Your Date
If you are still a bit unsure about what to wear for your date ask them what they are planning to wear. This is easier if it is a blinde date because then you can say you just want to know what to look for when you arrive at the date spot. If you are still full of doubt just ask your friends, collectively they should be able to figure out what to wear!
