For anyone who enjoys a good film about a prison break, you know how difficult it is to break out of a maximum-security penitentiary. Not only are the grounds and the hallways regularly patrolled by guards, but nowadays, there are cameras everywhere. Prison breaks have never been a walk in the park, but now they are more tricky than ever before. There is one prison, though, on the island of Alcatraz in the United States that saw a particularly impressive escape. It is one that continues to boggle the minds of many historians because there are still a number of unknown factors.

Alcatraz prison has been considered to be one of the most notorious prisons in the United States. It is secluded on the island of the same name and has seen inmates entering its infamous walls for decades.

As it is in on an island, it is considered to be almost impossible to escape, but with San Francisco in the near distance, if a prisoner or four were able to reach land, then it would be almost impossible to catch them.
