Bride demands that her guests wear expensive clothes that are based on their weight

We all know how brides can get a little too caught up in their wedding being absolutely ‘perfect’. And considering how much weddings tend to cost, it’s, of course, a woman’s prerogative to want their special day to be incredible, but how far is too far when it comes to making this happen? This is the story of one bride-to-be who ordered each one of her guests to obey a very specific dress code, which even included categorizing people by their weight! Here’s what happened.

Requests

Every bride has the right to create a dress code for her wedding – formal dresses, black tie, that kind of thing. But is it ever okay for the dress code to be categorized according to the weight of your guests, or even worse, telling people they need to spend a minimum amount of money on their outfit?

Requests

Surely this is a clear example of the bride’s requests going way too far, especially when it starts to deter people away or simply making the wedding unenjoyable for all of your guests you have invited along.

Demands

One particular bride who falls under the category of this extreme ‘bridezilla’ type is a woman outed on Reddit – by her own guest! It all started when she sent a communal message to her guest list, telling them that she has now finalized the dress code which she wants them to all strictly abide by it.

Asking your guests to come dressed in their best is pretty much a given, but this particular bride took it one step further by writing a whole long list of outfit requirements that they basically had no choice but to follow. And we’re not just talking about smart shoes.

Hawaii wedding

The post begins by the bride greeting her guests saying “So, hello all, who’s excited for Hawaii 2019?” – so it’s a destination wedding! Does that mean the guests are already having to pay for their flights?

Hawaii wedding

She then continues saying: “I want to announce the long-awaited dress code. You all have over a year and a half to get everything you need…so no excuses” – no pressure then! It looks as though the invitees have been forewarned that there may be particular dress code on the way, but we’re pretty sure they weren’t expecting it to be so detailed.

Dress code

The bride continues saying: “We know that it is rather specific, but it’s all for a reason…it’s so that we all collectively create a spectacular visual effect.” She explained how they will be taking part in some sort of optical illusion that’ll be filmed professionally on the day.

Dress code

She said: “If it’s done correctly and we all do our bit properly, then it will make the synchronized dancing really come alive.” It’s not quite clear what kind of visual effect she’s going for, but we’d love to see what the end result looks like. All we can do is hope!

Specific requirements

So now we know it’s all part of a collective visual dance, what exactly is the dress code she has created? Well, we have to warn you, it’s very specific indeed. So specific that we really doubt the entirety of their guest list are going to be able to get everything.

Specific requirements

She classifies the dress code not just by formality, but she also wants specific colors, specific accessories, specific materials, even specific brands – and they’re not exactly the cheapest of brands either. We’re talking the top-end designer brands that can cost over $100 for a pair of socks…them sorts of brands. So without further ado…

For men

For men, she wants them to wear a purple jacket, a soda hat, and all-white trainers. We’re not quite sure what kind of look she’s going for here, but one thing that we’re intrigued by is the soda hat? And we also notice that she hasn’t given any requirements for the bottom half?

Does she want joggers? Shorts? Jeans? Nude? And then to top it off…they all have to bring along some plain glow sticks too.

For women

And now for the women…we’re afraid their dress code is just as unique too! They need to wear a green sweater, orange pants, and a Burberry scarf to accessorize. Now we know what you’re thinking – Burberry scarf is pretty expensive, right?

For women

Well, not only are they required to get the scarf, but they also need to have a pair of Louboutin shoes on their feet. You know, the ones with the red heels that cost hundreds of dollars!

A weight issue

But the demands didn’t stop there. Not only does she want men and women to wear these specific clothes, but she also wants her guests to weigh themselves and wear another particular outfit if they are over a particular weight.

A weight issue

For men, if they are over 200lbs, they will need to wear all camouflage with black sneakers. For women, if they are over 160lbs, then it’s a black sweater, pants, and heels. Seriously, what on earth is this visual effect going to look like?

More demands

We’re not sure exactly what it’s going to look like, but we need to know! And if you didn’t think that long list of clothing is enough, the bride and her husband-to-be also ask for all guests to bring along formal wear to put on after they have taken part in the dance.

More demands

This is when the women will be wearing their gorgeous dresses, and men will be suited and booted in their black tie.

Looking expensive

It’s always lovely to look and feel your best in formal clothes on such a special day, but this bride has taken things a little bit too far by putting a price tag on the minimum amount of money she wants guests to spend on their outfits.

Looking expensive

On her post, she wrote: “Please remember that the wedding venue is very upscale, so make sure you are all looking the best you possibly can ladies and gents.

How much?!

She then continues by basically insulting all of her guests – “if you’re gonna look like trash, then so will we all…” What does she even mean by this? Does this mean she’ll be turning up her nose or turning people away if their not up to scratch with her standards?

And by the looks of things, her standards are pretty high as she wants all guests to spend at least $1’000 each – including jewelry, hair, makeup, etc.

Responsibility

So not only has she asked her guests to put together a strange mismatch of clothes, but she also wants them to spend at least a grand on their formal wedding attire too. That’s two whole outfits which both won’t be cheap.

Surely she realizes that her dress code is a lot of responsibility to put on her guests that probably only said yes to coming because they’re getting a free dinner out of it.

One particular guest

And it looks as though at least one of her guests is thinking the same way as us too, because not long after they were sent the message, a guest posted it on Reddit for the world to see. It’s unknown as to who it was that outed her demands online, but considering the message was sent to her private guest list only, it’s pretty much a given that it was someone she invited.

One particular guest

Perhaps now she’s regretting being so demandingly rude.

Slammed

The Reddit post itself is a screenshot of the message, and it wasn’t long before it received thousands of comments slamming the bride for her “ridiculous requests.” Some people have suspected that it might not even be real due to the requests being so absurd.

Slammed

One user commented – “Surely this has to be a joke? There’s no way she can expect her guests to pay for all of that! The Louboutins alone will cost thousands of dollars.”

Going viral

It wasn’t long before the post went viral, and you know what happens when it goes viral? Basically everyone who has access to the internet sees it…including the bride herself! And boy, she was not happy.

In fact, she decided to make a public comment on the matter, and she didn’t hold back, especially with her words to the unknown “rat” who exposed her. She begins her post saying: “I have seen MY post online twice already, I could not feel more crushed, upset, and heartbroken.”

Retaliation

She continues by saying: “Knowing that someone I cared about enough to invite to my wedding went behind my back hurts more than anything. And boy will you be paying.”…Oh no…It looks as though she has plans up her sleeve to retaliate and get her own back.

Retaliation

But what exactly has she got planned? Well, her post continues saying: “I am now announcing a unique party in honor of the snitch who sold me out. I will be hosting Polygraph Party.”

Polygraph party

So what exactly is a ‘Polygraph Party’? Well, she’s going to do all that she can to find out who it was that posted the screenshot on Reddit, and she won’t stop till she does. She continues on the post saying: “We will all be hunting whoever it was that put me on blast.

And if you can’t make the party you will be assumed guilty unless you can provide a valid excuse.” If we was the real snitch, we would certainly be shaking our my boots…

Detective bride

She then asks her guests to bring “their inner Sherlock Holmes” along with them, because she and her husband have genuinely bought a lie detector that they all have to submit to. Sounds like it’s going to be one hell of a party! She then continues saying: “You think we’re kidding?

It cost $99.99 on Amazon. And then after all the testing, when we’ve found the rat who did this, we’ll celebrate by having drinks and appetizers.”
