Bride demands that her guests wear expensive clothes that are based on their weight

We all know how brides can get a little too caught up in their wedding being absolutely ‘perfect’. And considering how much weddings tend to cost, it’s, of course, a woman’s prerogative to want their special day to be incredible, but how far is too far when it comes to making this happen? This is the story of one bride-to-be who ordered each one of her guests to obey a very specific dress code, which even included categorizing people by their weight! Here’s what happened.

Requests

Every bride has the right to create a dress code for her wedding – formal dresses, black tie, that kind of thing. But is it ever okay for the dress code to be categorized according to the weight of your guests, or even worse, telling people they need to spend a minimum amount of money on their outfit?

Requests

Surely this is a clear example of the bride’s requests going way too far, especially when it starts to deter people away or simply making the wedding unenjoyable for all of your guests you have invited along.

Demands

One particular bride who falls under the category of this extreme ‘bridezilla’ type is a woman outed on Reddit – by her own guest! It all started when she sent a communal message to her guest list, telling them that she has now finalized the dress code which she wants them to all strictly abide by it.

Asking your guests to come dressed in their best is pretty much a given, but this particular bride took it one step further by writing a whole long list of outfit requirements that they basically had no choice but to follow. And we’re not just talking about smart shoes.

Hawaii wedding

The post begins by the bride greeting her guests saying “So, hello all, who’s excited for Hawaii 2019?” – so it’s a destination wedding! Does that mean the guests are already having to pay for their flights?

She then continues saying: “I want to announce the long-awaited dress code. You all have over a year and a half to get everything you need…so no excuses” – no pressure then! It looks as though the invitees have been forewarned that there may be particular dress code on the way, but we’re pretty sure they weren’t expecting it to be so detailed.

Dress code

The bride continues saying: “We know that it is rather specific, but it’s all for a reason…it’s so that we all collectively create a spectacular visual effect.” She explained how they will be taking part in some sort of optical illusion that’ll be filmed professionally on the day.

Dress code

She said: “If it’s done correctly and we all do our bit properly, then it will make the synchronized dancing really come alive.” It’s not quite clear what kind of visual effect she’s going for, but we’d love to see what the end result looks like. All we can do is hope!

Specific requirements

So now we know it’s all part of a collective visual dance, what exactly is the dress code she has created? Well, we have to warn you, it’s very specific indeed. So specific that we really doubt the entirety of their guest list are going to be able to get everything.

Specific requirements

She classifies the dress code not just by formality, but she also wants specific colors, specific accessories, specific materials, even specific brands – and they’re not exactly the cheapest of brands either. We’re talking the top-end designer brands that can cost over $100 for a pair of socks…them sorts of brands. So without further ado…

For men

For men, she wants them to wear a purple jacket, a soda hat, and all-white trainers. We’re not quite sure what kind of look she’s going for here, but one thing that we’re intrigued by is the soda hat? And we also notice that she hasn’t given any requirements for the bottom half?

Does she want joggers? Shorts? Jeans? Nude? And then to top it off…they all have to bring along some plain glow sticks too.

For women

And now for the women…we’re afraid their dress code is just as unique too! They need to wear a green sweater, orange pants, and a Burberry scarf to accessorize. Now we know what you’re thinking – Burberry scarf is pretty expensive, right?

For women

Well, not only are they required to get the scarf, but they also need to have a pair of Louboutin shoes on their feet. You know, the ones with the red heels that cost hundreds of dollars!

A weight issue

But the demands didn’t stop there. Not only does she want men and women to wear these specific clothes, but she also wants her guests to weigh themselves and wear another particular outfit if they are over a particular weight.

A weight issue

For men, if they are over 200lbs, they will need to wear all camouflage with black sneakers. For women, if they are over 160lbs, then it’s a black sweater, pants, and heels. Seriously, what on earth is this visual effect going to look like?

More demands

We’re not sure exactly what it’s going to look like, but we need to know! And if you didn’t think that long list of clothing is enough, the bride and her husband-to-be also ask for all guests to bring along formal wear to put on after they have taken part in the dance.

More demands

This is when the women will be wearing their gorgeous dresses, and men will be suited and booted in their black tie.

Looking expensive

It’s always lovely to look and feel your best in formal clothes on such a special day, but this bride has taken things a little bit too far by putting a price tag on the minimum amount of money she wants guests to spend on their outfits.

Looking expensive

On her post, she wrote: “Please remember that the wedding venue is very upscale, so make sure you are all looking the best you possibly can ladies and gents.
