It hasn’t always been sunshine and rainbows for the Royal husband and wife. In fact, prior to their extravagant wedding at Westminster Abbey in 2011, the couple faced quite a few hurdles to their continued happiness which seemed insurmountable at the time. While we may never know the exact reasons that led to these two calling it quits for a time back in 2007, we have been able to piece together a few events that may have led to the break-up. Kate and Wills met while they were both studying at the University of St. Andrews, and as it goes during the college years, not everything was as easy as it could have been. From parties to paparazzi, Kate had to enter and adapt to a completely new world which obviously led to some tense moments as they both grew into adulthood together. They are happily married now with their lovely family of princes and a little princess, but let’s take a look at what could have caused them to push pause back in the day.
When the now happily married couple first met, it was not love at first sight. Of course, many of us try to imagine it this way and daydream about the fairytales we read as a child. But for these two it wasn’t like that, after all, he was a prince and she was a ‘commoner’.
The two met in 2001 just in passing between various social events and amongst different groups of friends. It was not until 2002 that Prince William truly took a shine to the young Kate and decided to pursue her.
